Schools

If you have not taken your students to The Pettit Environmental Preserve, you are missing the best field trip of the year! The field trips include educational, hands-on, outdoor-based curricula, designed to teach about local environments and standards-based science concepts. If you are interested in a topic not currently in our Program Guide (can be sent to you upon request), we would be happy to work with you to develop something to suit your needs.

Colleges

Whether you want to get away from campus for the weekend, knock out a few class requirements, further your education around your degree, or gain hands-on experience with nature, our college program is the answer. Here at the Preserve, we customize your trip to fit your needs, so don’t hesitate to inquire about any interests you may have.

Individuals and Families

Come one, or come all! The Pettit Preserve is your local nature center with fun options for the entire family. Whether you’re interested in fishing, hiking, picnicking, or just simply enjoying the outdoors, we are a great destination for all ages and learning abilities. We also offer a membership for individuals called the Big Leaf Magnolia, as well as a membership for families or groups called the Lake Trail Supporters.

Scouts

Calling all Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Eagle Scouts! Are you ready to join us for your next field trip, Scout event, or outdoor activities day? We can customize your visit based on the age group, interests, and dates. The Preserve is also a great place to earn Merit badges, so long as your group has an individual who can officially provide them to each Scout.
