Basics of Tree Identification

This workshop will be presented by Bartow County Extension Agriculture and Natural Resource Agent, Paul Pugliese. The first hour of this workshop will be indoors at the The Pettit Environmental Preserve nature center and will cover the basics of tree identification with leaf samples. The second hour of the workshop will involve a two-mile native tree walk around the lakeside trail. You are welcome to attend just the first hour of this workshop if you are unable to join us for the tree walk. Children are also welcome to attend. Dress appropriately for the weather.

Prepayment required: $20 cash, check, or credit card. Make checks out to “Bartow County Extension”

12 Open Saturday Hike

Pettit Environmental Preserve

This open hike will include a program starting at 11:00am until 12:00/12:30 at the Gay Pettit Dellinger Nature Center.

Joel McNeal, Associate Professor KSU and Brandy Rogers, Associate Professor GHC will be providing the program on bird migration and how to identify and document your bird sightings on the Merlin and e-Bird apps.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is February 18-21, 2022, so this will give you an opportunity to learn more about this project. Joel is the regional coordinator for the e-bird app from Cornell University.

This presentation is enjoyed by all. The gates open at 9:00 am and the last hike is at 4:00pm. Gates close at 5:00pm. There is no cost for the event or hike, but donations are welcome. Dogs on a leash are allowed.
