Here at the Pettit Environmental Preserve, we are always looking forward to the next outdoor adventure and learning experience.

If the available dates listed don’t work for you, or if we don’t have an event planned that you are interested in, then let’s plan for you to Reserve the Preserve by booking a date below.

The gates open at 9:00 am and the last hike is at 4:00pm. Gates close at 5:00pm. There is no cost for the event or hike, but donations are welcome. Dogs on a leash are allowed.

Native Tree Walk & Open Hike

On October 14th, 2023, we will be hosting a FREE Native Tree Walk & Open Hike and offering a guided hike. Learn all you can about the trees and wonderful things around us from 10 AM – 12 PM. All are welcome. An RSVP is kindly requested. Please call 770-387-5142 to RSVP.

10th Annual Golf Tournament

Open Saturday Hike

Pettit Environmental Preserve

This open hike will include a program starting at 11:00am until 12:00/12:30 at the Gay Pettit Dellinger Nature Center.

Joel McNeal, Associate Professor KSU and Brandy Rogers, Associate Professor GHC will be providing the program on bird migration and how to identify and document your bird sightings on the Merlin and e-Bird apps.
 
The Great Backyard Bird Count is February 18-21, 2022, so this will give you an opportunity to learn more about this project.  Joel is the regional coordinator for the e-bird app from Cornell University.

Participate in the Great American Bird Count!

Pettit Environmental Preserve

Start putting up your bird feeder because this year makes 25 years of enjoying, watching, and learning about all of the birds in our very own backyard.

Every year, for 3 days, people from around the globe participate by logging their bird sightings on the eBird app. More than 100 million birds are recorded on average! Follow the button below to find out how to get involved from February 18-21. Happy Counting!
